Potted Plant Hutch

My husband and I have recently become big fans of www.knockoffwood.com. We love Anna's designs though we've only been able to try two of them so far. My daughter, who is three, was able to do some plant potting with her grandparents last weekend so I decided to buy her some pots and plants to take care of. When I saw this design I knew it was perfect for my daughters little plants. The original plan was for the three of us to go to Lowes on Saturday to buy the wood and paint but after 3 and a half hours of telling my daughter to eat her lunch I gave up and left her at home with her daddy. Yes she really did spend three and a half hours sitting in the same spot stubbornly not eating the lunch she asked for. It was a nice to go alone though. My daughter didn't know we were going to be painting her shelves so the paint was a surprise for her. She was very excited. I think if we hadn't gotten such a late start on Saturday we probably could have finished this in one afternoon. As it was I was putting the primer on late Saturday night. My daughter and I painted on Sunday. And here was our finished project. I burned a rose design into the wood before it was put together and painted. Then I painted it again with the pretty metallic purple exterior paint my daughter picked out. I like the middle roses better than the side ones but too late to change it now. Oh and here's a little warning. When painting furniture with a three year old don't bend down next to them over the paint or you might end up with pink hair.

Thank you Ana for the plans! My daughter loves it!
